Clubs and Organizations

The Westfield School encourages extracurricular activities, but not at the expense of academic work. Clubs meet on a regular basis, and each is supervised by an adult/staff advisor. Dues and membership requirements differ. Information is made available to all students at the beginning of the school year.

Academic Bowl Team

Academic Bowl Team is made up of Middle and Upper School students (grades 8-12) with a wide range of academic interests who participate against other schools in academic competition that stresses quick recall and broad knowledge. Mr. Chad Ekey is the sponsor of this group.

Beta Clubs

Junior Beta Club and Senior Beta Club are organizations whose purpose is to promote leadership and service and to reward and encourage meritorious achievements among students who are of high moral character and have earned an academic average of 90 or better. The Senior Beta Club is open to qualifying students in grades 9 - 12. The Junior Beta Club is open to qualifying students in grades 7- 8. Mrs. Janette Anderson and Mrs. Kay Grier are the sponsors for the Senior Beta Club; Mrs. Stephanie Smith  and Mrs. Terri Hammerle are the sponsors for the Junior Beta Club.

Debate Team

Debate Team is one part of the Literary Team. It participates in competitions throughout the year on the designated topic selected annually by the National Forensics League for student debate. Students interested are encouraged to enroll in the class which provides instruction and practice for the matches. Mr. Chad Ekey is the sponsor for the Debate Team.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)

The FCA is composed of students in grades 9-12. Its purpose is “To present to athletes and coaches, and all whom they influence, the challenge and the adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church.”  Mr. Jake Walls serves as the advisor to this group.

Key Club

Key Club is a service organization sponsored by the local Kiwanis Club. Male and female students in grades 9 - 12 are eligible for membership.

Literary Team

The Literary Team is composed of students who compete with other GISA schools in the areas of essay, oral interpretation, one-act play, spelling, vocal solo, girls’ trio, boys’ quartet, piano, extemporaneous speaking, and debate. Several  faculty members coach these events. Mrs. Pam Pierce serves as the Literary Coordinator.

Student Government & Council

Student Government & Council is composed of officers and class representatives from grades 9-12 for Upper School and grades 5-8 for Middle School. These leaders discuss student policies and convey student opinions, suggestions, and ideas to the administration. They are the organ of communication between the student body and the administration. The advisors for the Upper School Student Council are Mrs. Jean Floyd and Mrs. Dawn Jerles. The advisor for Middle School Student Council is Mrs. Sherri Lee.

Tri-Hi-Y

Tri-Hi-Y is a service organization for girls enrolled in grades 9 - 12. Its purpose is to create, maintain, and extend throughout the home, school, and community high standards of Christian character. Mrs. Julie Harrell serves as the advisor for Tri-Hi-Y.

Vespidae Staff

Vespidae Staff is composed of students who are enrolled in Yearbook Journalism class. Mrs. Kathy Stubbs serves as the advisor for the Vespidae Staff.

4-H Club

4-H Club is sponsored by the County Agricultural Extension Service. The motto of “Head, Heart, Hand, and Health” indicates areas of development that accomplish its purpose. Membership is open to all students in grade 5. Fifth grade teachers are sponsors.
