2023 Alumni Award

The Westfield-Beechwood-Baker Alumni Association presented its 2023 Alumni Award to Mr. Ed Beckham '83.

Ed's Westfield journey began as a young student, attending Westfield from first grade until his graduation in 1983. During his time as a student here, he not only excelled academically but also showcased his talent in sports, participating in basketball, baseball, golf and football. His passion for extracurricular activities extended to numerous clubs and activities that enriched our school's community.

As a testament to his outstanding character and leadership abilities, Ed was honored as Mr. Westfield during his senior year, an acknowledgment of his exceptional qualities that have only grown stronger over the years.

Since graduating 40 years ago, Ed has continued to be deeply involved in the Westfield community. When his own sons began attending Westfield, he stepped into the role of a youth football coach, making a profound impact on young athletes' lives. One of his proudest moments was guiding his son Beck's football team to a Peanut Bowl championship victory.

Additionally, he served as an assistant golf coach, further demonstrating his commitment to Westfield's growth and excellence. He played a pivotal role in the football pavilion project, leaving a lasting mark on our school's facilities.
As an active leader of the Booster Club, Ed continues to contribute to the annual spring golf tournament’s steering and fundraising committee. During home varsity football games, you can always find Ed tirelessly preparing for the evening, putting out parking signs, and ensuring everything runs smoothly.

His leadership extended to serving as the Alumni Council President from 2002 to 2005, during which he also represented the council on the board. In 2014, he joined the Westfield Board, serving for eight years and in leadership roles as Vice Chair, Chairman, and Past Chairman.
Ed's commitment isn't limited to Westfield; it extends to his family, career, church, and community. He's been married to Tamatha Griffin Beckham, a Westfield alumna from the Class of 1987, for 25 years. They have two wonderful children, Beck, a member of the Westfield Class of 2020 and now a senior at Georgia Southern University, and Brant, a current Westfield junior, who continue to make Westfield proud.

Professionally, Ed is a successful real estate broker and appraiser, owning Ed Beckham Realty and Appraisals. His dedication also shines through in his active involvement in the Perry United Methodist Church, where he has served on various committees and founded the Redeemers Sunday School Class.

In the community, Ed's service on the Perry Housing Authority Board for 13 years, including a term as President, underscores his commitment to creating positive change.
Ed is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he earned a degree in Agricultural Economics and was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Beyond his professional and community roles, Ed finds solace and joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors, particularly at his beloved Satilla River camphouse.

In recognition of his extraordinary journey, his unwavering dedication to Westfield, and his significant contributions to our school, it is with great honor and pride that we present the Westfield Alumni Award to Mr. Ed Beckham. Ed, your legacy at Westfield is woven into the very fabric of our community, and we are forever grateful for your commitment, leadership, and spirit.

Congratulations to Ed Beckham, this year’s recipient of the Westfield-Beechwood-Baker Alumni Associations’ Alumni of the Year Award, on this well-deserved honor.
